Cadet-in-Charge Check-off list
Inform and get approval from Operations Officer (OPS) of intention to be CIC for an event as soon as event is identified and preferably at least three weeks or more before event. Contact Cadet Duty Officer for this event. Begin a Lessons Learned log for the After Action Report.
Obtain copy of sign-up sheet from OPS.
Communicate with and acquire & distribute all needed forms for events from Admin. Dept.
(should be done at least three weeks in advance event, when possible)
Discuss with OPS and the NSIs what should be accomplished at the event. Write and submit a Cadet Operational Plan (COP). The final version should be as detailed as possible, but you should produce COP drafts and distribute them to concerned parties (distribution depends on who needs to make input or needs to know about the event). The final version should be given to the Chain-of-Command for approval. The goal is to submit it early enough so as to permit approval AND possible revision by OPS, XO, CO, and two weeks prior to event. When applicable, include watch bill and/or assign cadets to teams (consult Battalion Team Commander as appropriate).
In conjunction with OPS, use JUMS to verify correct contact information for cadets signed up. Use the report function to produce a list of cadets needing Standard Release Forms, Health Risk Screenings and, if required, physical fitness forms. Include contact information. Prior to the event, pull a copy of each cadet's standard release form and bring along on the trip or event.
Contact cadets that have signed-up, at a minimum, once two weeks before the event and again the one or two days before the event. In the case of any changes, inform OPS and NSIs as soon as practicable that there has been a change in the sign-up list.
Continue to update and promulgate changes to the COP. Verify actions required by COP and responsibilities assigned are completed or on track to be completed. Report any difficulties to OPS and NSIs.
